Reclining on a divan embroidered by Italian film actress Silvana Mangano, Valeri falls asleep and dreams she is dancing onstage at a nightclub. Wearing a gown designed by Roberto Capucci, she dances to Kraftwerk's "The Model," a song about the commodification of the female body. Seated on a motorcycle, in a parody of Tom of Finland-style homosexual imagery, Vezzoli embroiders a portrait of Mangano, an Italian diva whose monochrome tapestries signal to him an inner turmoil.
Vezzoli's dislocations of roles and positions contribute to what the artist calls a "splendid, surreal debate" on the identity of women.
